Event Schedule Race Plans Risk Assessment

  • 1st 2nd and 3rd in each of the 12 classes including the sprints will get Gold, Silver and Bronze medals (boys, girls and i-SUPs)
    • 1st 14' & 12' 6 over the line of the 10 mile course will receive £100 (male & female)
    • 2nd over the line will receive £70 (male & female)
    • 3rd over the line will receive £30 (male & female)
  • All competitors will be put into a free draw for all the other prizes so everyone has an equal chance of coming away with a prize
  • All competitors will get an event medal
  • Prize giving and prize draw will happen soon after the 10 mile race
  • 1st over the line of the 10 mile course will also have their name inscribed on the event shield:
  • Medals for the 1st 2nd and 3rd in the 2 mile fun race (hard shell and inflatable)

Due to the large number of entrants, this year we will be operating a staggered start:
Race start sequences will be as follows with 3 minutes between each start : -
  •  10:45 - 14’ Men
  •  10:48 – 12’ 6 Men
  •  10:51 – 14’ Ladies
  •  10:54 – 12’6 Ladies
  •  10:57 – Surf Shapes
  •  11:00 – 2 Mile Fun Race

Surf Class:  Length: - - 12’ 6” maximum, no weight limit, Hard shell boards must be a surfboard style in shape with the minimum dimensions, nose 17” wide (12” back from nose), 14” tail (12” up from the tail) and maximum thickness of 5”. Basically, most 12’ 6” or less crossover / surf style standard production boards will fit into this category.  i-SUP boards, 12' 2" or less

Medal and Prize distribution:

  • Medals: 1st 2nd and 3rd in each of the 6 classes including the sprints will get Gold, Silver and Bronze medals (men & women and i-SUPs)  
  •  Prizes: As this is an all inclusive SUP event, all race numbers will be pulled out of the hat at random to will all the prizes supplied by our sponsors, so the paddlers that finish at the back of the fleet could win the best prizes..!

  1. I am aware of the physically strenuous nature of this event, the risks both medically and physically. By registering for the event I confirm I am healthy and fit (physically and medically) enough to complete this event. I accept that should any medical or physical condition arise prior to the event which is likely to affect my ability to compete will be reason to withdraw in accordance with these conditions.

By registering for the event, you acknowledge that you have both read and understood all text presented to you as part of the registration process. They include releases of liability and waiver of legal rights, and deprive you of the ability to sue certain parties.
NOTE: if you are registering for a number of competitors, you are accepting total and unequivocal responsibility to ensure that each person you are registering reads, accepts and complies with paragraph "a." above and the event "waver and agreement".

  •  All Event Participants are required to declare and collect their race numbers at the event registration desk between 08:00 and 09:45 on the day of the event.
  • There will be a £10 administration charge to make any changes on the day regarding   BOARD CLASS, BOARD CONSTRUCTION or RACE DISTANCE

River Thames Licence details:

  • As the "Battle of the Thames" will be held on the River Thames, all craft including Stand Up Boards must have a Thames Licence to paddle their boards on the Thames. (one licence per paddler)

Exceptions:

  • British Canoe Union Members will already have a full British Waterways licence.
  • You may already have a Thames Licence

The Environment Agency charge £8.50 for a River Thames Day Licence. Blue Chip will be subsidising this, the charge for the Day Licence for the BOTT Event will only be £5.

  • The races will include the  "Battle of the Thames"  10 mile From TSC down past Queen's Promenade, past the riverside bars and restaurants to Kingston Bridge, then turn back upstream  and around the island of Ravens then back down to Kingston before paddling back up to the finish line at Thames Sailing Club.
