Facts about
Cheque Clearance...
If a cheque clears through you bank account and your bank confirms
that you
have the money in you account, REMEMBER...
Your
Bank can bounce the payment and recover all the money from YOU AT ANY TIME if the cheque is
subsequently found to be fraudulent,
obtained through deception or stolen; this could be many months later...
BANK DETAILS: You should not
under any circumstances disclose you Bank / Account details to any
prospective purchaser. |

Case
histories:
We are getting a lot of customers who
have been contacted by what appears to be “money laundering and Fraud /
Deception scams.
These “scam” emails seem to be a growing problem. One of our customers
was drawn in so far as to receive a cheque from a scammer and paid it
into his bank only to be contacted by the police over a month later. The cheque appeared to
be OK to the bank teller (drawn on a UK University Fund) but was picked
up later by the issuing bank. The Police were
contacted by the bank as the counterfeit cheque was so good. Needless to
say, the bank subsequently bounced the cheque and the customer lost his
all his money and the equipment he thought he sold.... |

Just thought I should let you know, I advertised a board on your website and
was contacted about the advert by email. The woman who was wanting to buy
the board from me asked me to forward the balance on to a courier. I assumed
this would be just delivery costs, but when the cheque arrived it was for
£2850, for a board advertised at £300. I've talked to the bank and the
police, and both have suggested it's probably money laundering. |
