Standup Journal   Volume 20 - No.1 (Spring 2012 issue - see image)

We blend the rush and peace of standup paddling with some of the other naturally powered standup watersports. Standup Journal heralds a new era of the photo-heavy action and lifestyle magazine that also embraces our glorious heritage, pioneering and exploration days.

Every issue of Standup Journal is a photo annual, a celebration of those gifted water brothers and sisters who are torn between playing on the water or "working" on it... thankfully for those sharing our kindred love of standup paddling they choose to create images when the light, action...and "awe" are just right.
Check out this 176 page bumper Spring issue
This issue is packed with stunning high res images and informative articles

Below are some low res snapshots to wet your appetite

Standup Journal is published quarterly: We will be getting regular supplies of Standup Journal every quarter:

Spring (end of March) Summer (end of June)
Autumn (end of October) Winter (end of December)

  Issue Twenty, number One

ABOUT OUR RICHARD HALLMAN COVER “I call this rapid on the West Fork of the Hood River ‘Love Hate Drop.’ It’s the most difficult and challenging rapid on this epic sup river run, which goes right through Hood River, the town where I live. I would rate this class 3+ because of the mandatory bank-to-bank manoeuvring required to complete it. If you paddle straight down the rapid, you will crash hard!
I have taken some hits on this puppy, but in the days after Richard shot this photo I ran it several times in a row and got the line dialled. How? A technique I call ‘fear training,’ which is running a drop over and over again until it doesn’t scare you anymore.
Notice the helmet, PFD, quick-release leash and killer shoes. These are the bare minimum for whitewater sup. Mountain-bike style knee/shin pads and a good wetsuit are very smart pieces of equipment for the river too.” -Dan Gavere,
