This was Lucy's first time with
any water sports.
We started by giving Lucy a dry run (no pun intended) on how
to stand on the board and use the paddle
.
meanwhile, Gordon and Julian decided to try some wind
powered SUPing.
.
Lucy stuck to the job in hand and started to
develop her paddling technique
. while Grant (the
photographer) and Brian gave encouragement. Lucy
couldn’t put if off any longer,
so we made our way to the bank and Lucy
took her first paddle stroke..!
Just look at the expression on Lucy's face......"Just
what have I let myself in for..?"

Lucy put a brave face on and kept on paddling, trying hard
to remember the technique I had shown her
.
and it was only took a few minutes for Lucy to find her
SUPing legs
.
soon she was right at home on the board
. so we
headed on up stream against the 10MPH head wind

All the time Lucy maintained her new found paddle technique
. With the wind in our hair
(well Lucy's hair, mine had blown away a some time ago) we kept on up stream
and Lucy's technique just kept on improving
. We passed some lovely properties on our right
.

Meanwhile, Gordon was behind bars, no further
comment required.
. Then Lucy saw her dream house
and had to get closer, it was drawing her like a magnet
. We managed to convince her
that this was not the right place for her so she reluctantly
paddled back to
the fold, not realising that she was now quite at home on
the board and abler to go where she wanted
without any problems.
. We were
now approaching Kingston
. and Kingston Road Bridge
.

. Yes, we made it to Kingston Town..!
. Gordon decided to test how quickly Lucy’s reactions
were by colliding head on
and yes, Lucy survived and kept dry..!
. So
we all decided to have a break

.
After a short break, we were about to head back, Lucy now looked so at
home on a SUP board
as we mounted up to paddle back.

but then Grant wanted some more photos
with some swans

and then with more swans
 then with a bus
.

really did headed back
.
.
.
Under the Kingston Road Bridge
.
.
Then under the railway bridge
.
and the start of Canbury Gardens on our right
.
The Thames was so peaceful as we paddled back in what seemed
no time at all.
.
As soon as we got back, another photo shoot was beckoning
with Grant's assistant Ellie (who has taken
most of these images) well done Ellie.
.
Gordon decided to show us how to paddle without a paddle

and how to come ashore

all in one move
.
and finished it off with a hang Ten

Gordon, just remember, no one like a smart ass..!

Lucy did so well that our photographer Grant decided to also
have a go himself.

well done Grant, two converts for the price of one..!
.
All too soon it was time to pack up and load up
. and oh yes, just time for
a well deserved
slice of refreshment
.
Thank Lucy for
making today's paddle one to remember.
PS, we told you that you wouldn't get wet..!
